Quite little city with enough of peace and serenity in surroundings to awake writer in me.
Udine is located in north eastern Italy, close from Venice, Trieste and not so far from Milan. Locally location is at central Friuli Venezia region, which is surrounded by beauty of hills, might of mountains and to the calmness of sea. It falls on route that connects Northeastern Europe to southern, with Slovenian border just 40 kilometer from the city.

How the City got its name? (Bit of History)
Name Udine, first found record in imperial document as Udene used around year 983 AD. Its vast and varied cultural influence is a result of swing of administrative power from Republic of Venice, Lombardy Kingdom, Austrian Empire to finally coming back to Italy. In past it became a hot spot and was called the 'War Capital' of the region, as it was point of strategic importance.| A view to the center |

What you should not miss in Udine?
The local food that has best to serve its Frico and Polenta. If you went back without tasting this interesting dishes from Udinese kitchen, you are set to loose a very important taste of life.
Frico is the typical food of region made from hard local cheese meshed with shredded potato, mixed with flour which is then baked or fried till it becomes a crispy snack. It is usually served along with soup or stew.
Polenta is made of cornmeal or Farina that is either eaten as porridge or baked into loaf and sliced, then grilled or fried as required.
Among the local favorite drinks 'Aperol' and 'Prosecco' forms the part of daily life, with lots of bar and caffè located all over the city, drinks are easily available.
